FastAPI Backend Developer

genieX is an early-stage startup focused on AI-driven application development. Based in the Bengaluru area with a team of 11-50 employees, the company builds modern web applications and backend systems, hiring remotely across Asia, Europe, and other regions.

This is a contract FastAPI Backend Developer role (with potential conversion to full-time) focused on building and maintaining backend services and APIs for modern web applications. Ideal for developers experienced in Python and FastAPI who can handle databases, integrations, and real-world business workflows.

• Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python and FastAPI
• Build APIs for web applications and internal tools
• Design and implement database models and queries
• Integrate third-party APIs and external services
• Implement business logic and application workflows
• Collaborate with frontend developers on API integration
• Debug and improve existing backend functionality
• Contribute to code reviews and ongoing backend improvements

• 3+ years of professional experience in Python backend development
• Hands-on experience with FastAPI or similar Python web framework
• Practical experience building and consuming REST APIs
• Experience with Pydantic and SQLAlchemy
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or another relational database
• Understanding of asynchronous programming in Python
• Experience integrating third-party APIs
• Ability to independently complete development tasks

• 3+ years professional experience in Python backend development
• Strong hands-on experience with FastAPI, Pydantic, SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL
• Experience with REST APIs and third-party integrations
• Preferred: Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ, AWS/GCP, CI/CD, or AI/LLM exposure
